Time Stealers

Do all questions come to you? Are you expected to provide the answers? Even though the team members know how to do it?

This is called time stealing. Employees will turn to you as you have the answers. This is to save themselves the time whilst taking yours.

Is this harsh? Not if they are wasting your time. But don't mistake the genuine team members that need your help (new employees or employee who are new to the tasks given) from the time stealers who would rather waste your time than theirs to find the answer.

Although you may see them asking you questions as a good thing, as you know they will get it right. But you are not enabling them to be better at their jobs or even determine if they actually need the support to be better at their jobs.

Ask them what they think they should do. Or ask them if they have followed your procedures.

Make them responsible for their role. The questions will reduce when they know that you are not going to just spoon feed the answers and you will get your time back.

If you need help finding that right balance, please get in touch for a chat. Get that time back!

#get my time back.
